[H2] Integrating Anatomy and Physiology into Lymphedema Management

Catherine M. Tuppo, PT, MS, CLT-LANA; Jan Weiss, PT, CLT-LANA

The session will focus on a review of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system in the context of various edema and lymphedema etiologies. As lymphedema therapists we need to consider the influence of underlying pathologies, disease processes, structural changes, and concomitant therapies on successful lymphedema management. Treatment interventions should be designed to meet the medical needs of the individual patient.

Highlights of the session will include:

This session is designed for lymphedema therapists new to the field; those who wish to review lymphatic anatomy and pathways; therapists seeking to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the interplay between lymphatic function, medical conditions, medical interventions, and treatment outcomes.
