[P1] The Essentials of Wound Care for Lymphedema
Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply basic principles of wound care to lymphedema patients (including how to incorporate dressings under bandages)
- Identify etiology of wounds and assessment of specific wound needs
- Discuss how to evaluate when a wound needs antibiotics
- Recognize the necessity of a multi-disciplinary approach in caring for lymphostatic ulcers
- Know the importance of improving the cell's environment and skin by topical nutrition, the layers and the functions of skin, selection of nutrients using 500 Dalton Rule
- Understand how non-prescription products can be used to improve skin health, particularly in patients undergoing bandaging
