The National Lymphedema Network (NLN) offers rewarding volunteer opportunities on weekdays and for special events. All time donated by volunteers is cherished at the NLN, as we are a small staff at the helm of a rapidly growing national organization of great potential and scope.
As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to:
During your volunteer time with us, you will play a major part in the development and support of lymphedema awareness around the world.
We currently are seeking consistent volunteers to help us in the NLN office (in San Francisco, CA) on an ongoing basis for a few hours each week. Volunteer duties may include assisting in the maintenance and updating of the lymphedema database (entering questionnaire responses, for example), responding to phone calls from patients and health care professionals to provide referrals, compiling information packets, and filling orders for educational materials.
If you are sensitive to the needs of lymphedema patients, interested in learning, and want to make a difference in the standard of care and lymphedema awareness nationwide, you will find the volunteer opportunities at the NLN fulfilling and exciting!
We also are seeking dedicated individuals who enjoy a little more responsibility and regular, ongoing volunteer hours (once or twice a week is fine). These volunteers work closely with staff, assisting with important projects such as:
If you do not live locally, but would like to volunteer at an NLN special event, there are openings for regional volunteers to:
To volunteer for Special Events, please fill in the form below. In the "comments" section, simply indicate 1) what interests you, 2) where you are available (what city/cities and state) and 3) when. We will email or call you to follow up and find the right volunteer position to fit you.
As you can see, our volunteer opportunities are diverse and offer a wide range of personal growth and educational possibilities, not to mention new friends! Our volunteer program continues to grow at the same rapid pace as the NLN, and any time you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Ideally, we would like to have one or two volunteers each day for 3-4 hours. Our business hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Our office is conveniently located in downtown San Francisco, two blocks from the Montgomery BART station. (Fun places to eat and shop nearby!)
