URGENT ACTION: Pass a Resolution in Your State Today
Let's make Lymphedema Awareness Day a very special nationwide awareness day every year - officially, in every state! See below for a sample cover letter to customize and forward to your Senator(s).
Sample Cover Letter To Accompany Your Lymphedema Awareness Day Proposal
The following sample letter was written by a lymphedema patient and advocate. Feel free to customize it as needed. Be sure to include a very brief description of who you are and why this resolution is important to you.
To locate your Senate representatives, go to www.senate.gov and choose your state from the list to view your legislators.
When you send your letter, be sure to forward a copy to the NLN office. We will keep it on file, and update our online map to reflect 1) your submission and 2) the passage of your resolution when it is approved. Together, we can make it happen!

Dear Senator _____________________:
I am a [lymphedema patient, breast cancer survivor, advocate and volunteer at the Carol Baldwin Breast Care Center]. I would like to propose that a resolution be passed in [state] that will make March 6th Lymphedema Awareness Day.
It would be a great step forward for this "orphan disease" if each state and the United States government would proclaim March 6th of each year as Lymphedema Awareness Day. As one of your constituents, I cannot stress enough the impact that this disease has on patients.
For further information, you may contact the National Lymphedema Network (800-541-3259 or online at www.lymphnet.org).
If I can be of any assistance in promoting this resolution, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I thank you, in advance, for your support.
Very truly yours,
[Your address - this is important!]
